Mindy Stannard

Mindy works hard to zealously advocate for her clients throughout each step of their case, whether that is working to settle the issues through negotiation/mediation or preparing for court.  She represents a diverse group of individuals in divorce, custody, parenting time, paternity, child support, spousal support, third-party custody, pre-nuptial agreements, restraining order cases, and sometimes serves as a court-appointed attorney for children.  Mindy also handles some juvenile court cases and uncontested adoption cases (including step-parent adoptions).  Mindy is committed to listening to her clients and to taking the time to answer her clients’ questions in a detailed manner.  She strives to help achieve the best possible outcome in each client’s case.  Each case presents different challenges, and Mindy works with her clients to find creative solutions to each family’s unique situation.

A long-time Portland resident, Mindy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Portland State University and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University.  Prior to focusing her practice solely on family law, Mindy worked in a general practice firm where she gained experience in family law, estate planning, criminal law, real estate law, business law and employment law.  Mindy has focused her practice solely on family law since 2007.  She was admitted to the Oregon and Washington State Bars in 2004 and 2009 respectively.  Mindy is actively involved in the Multnomah County and Washington County Bar Associations.  Mindy is a member of the Washington County, Multnomah County, and Clackamas County Bar Associations as well as the Oregon State Family Law Section, the Oregon Women Lawyers, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.  Mindy also serves as a Pro Tem Judge in Washington County, and regularly volunteers at Clear Transitions PDX (a monthly divorce workshop).  Mindy received an AV Preeminent peer review rating in 2015, was named a “Rising Star” in 2013 and 2014, and has been named a “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers Magazine since 2015.  In 2020, Mindy was admitted as a fellow to the Oregon chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

When she is not working or volunteering, Mindy enjoys gardening, cooking, entertaining friends, exploring new restaurants in Portland, camping, and hiking with her dog all over the Pacific Northwest.
